Estimation of axial length

A model-based estimate derived from corneal values and refraction. It is a guideline only, not a diagnostic measurement — use it as a supportive assessment when a biometer is unavailable.

Estimates are calculated for children aged 8–12 and may deviate by ±0.73 mm (±3.0%) from a true interferometer biometer measurement. 95% of values from this formula fall within roughly three-quarters of a millimeter of the true axial length.
